Circulation

Different massage techniques improve the blood and lymphatic circulation. Movements that are repeated and are rhythmic influence the liberation of hormones such as histamine which favor contraction (vasoconstriction) of the deep blood vessels and the dilatation of the superficial blood vessels. This vascular "gymnastics" causes skin redness and is an indication of blood pooling at the skin surface - a phenomenon called Hyperemia.

Important considerations:

  1. Consult a massage therapist accredited by the FQM and always request a health assessment before any professional intervention.

  2. The massage therapist must be able to recognize the need for intervention from a doctor or any other health professional.

  3. Most emotional or psychological problems will be affected by a massage treatment. Each case must be analyzed individually and according to the doctor's advice. All medication should be taken into consideration.

  4. A possible allergic reaction may occur from certain oils or lotions as well as from cleaners or disinfectants used on the tables or sheets. People who show allergic reactions to almonds or nuts in general should inform the therapist so that hypoallergenic creams or oils will be used.

  5. The presence of pins, staples, artificial joints, or pacemakers may disturb the treatment.
